Boeing to Pay Price for McNerney's Mistake Treating Aviation as Other Industries
- moose_man 3y agoThis guy called out Boeings root problem back in 2015 https://archive.ph/Q2YlF https://archive.ph/Q2YlF "To encourage the process improvements that happen in a factory, a workforce should be incentivized with profit sharing or other compensation. At a minimum, machinists and engineers need to feel that their work is valued. Taking away pensions at a time of record sales is a terrible way to motivate workers to go the extra mile."
- jqpabc123 3y agoSame old story with regard to American business culture --- technical people are expenses to be controlled, management and sales people are assets to be rewarded. Somehow, the fact that their entire business model is built around technical people is pushed into the background and forgotten --- until it becomes a real issue. First and foremost, if you don't design and build a competent, competitive product, there is nothing to manage or sell. Technical people are essential to the existence of a business like Boeing.
