Show HN: Love Ruby but meh Daily Stand-ups (DSU)? You might like my gem:)
I love ruby and rails, but agile Daily-Stand-ups (DSU) are a pain in the butt. I have a hard time remembering what to share; what I did yesterday, one-offs I did the day before because I completely forgot. Anyhow, I created this really cool ruby gem, called dsu. Currently, we're a small, but dedicated band of users who love the tool. You may love it also. If anyone wants to give it a try. Enjoy:

- skeptrune 3y agoi love programs like this legitimately useful tool not seeking to be a company, but just make life better
- gangelo 3y agoCool, hope you like it. Fun but powerful little tool.
- rrr_oh_man 3y agoExcellent. Thanks for sharing. But: Fuck daily stand ups <3
- gangelo 3y agoBut..lol. Honestly, I am not a fan; waste of time and turn into a "sit down" most the time lol.
- rrr_oh_man 3y agoWhat worked in my ex team across 12 time zones: turn it into a daily asynchronous text check in via Slack.
- gangelo 3y agoExactly, why not? Daily stand-ups (DSU) have become "this is what I did yesterday" (which everyone heard already, YESTerday), and "this is what I plan to do today and I am [not] blocked", which transforms DSU into a Daily stand-UP waste of time. DSU's are supposed to be a time to share things that no one knows about, so why NOT Slack? Brilliant. Now, you don't have to schedule your DSU at some stupid time that interrupts everyone's day for people in different time zones.
