I've long struggled with this. Another HN user pointed out that it could actually be Windows Defender causing the issue. I disabled it for Thunderbird, and things are now running much better. Hopefully this will work for you too!
- doubled112 3y agoThis explains why I've never seen behaviour like that. I'm one of seemingly five people running Linux on the desktop, avoiding Windows PCs.
