My bank freezed my access to my debit card and online bank recently, without a reason. They just sent me a message that I should visit the branch in person. Not going to happen. Fortunately I could open a new bank account online and had some spare cash too.
For the first time I realized that I'm a slave to my bank. They can just freeze my money just like that.
In a fully cashless system you'd be a complete slave to the system.
- unicornmama 3y agoYes. Complete a complete slave. LeVar Burton will have to come out of retirement to make a Roots sequel so that the world can understand your harsh mistreatment.
- alexpetralia 3y agoYou are a slave to many systems - labor markets, product markets, food markets - all of which are not controlled by you. You can be cut off "just like that" if the powers that be choose to do so. In the modern world you simply cannot survive without depending on other parts of society. Given the alternative, I don't find this to be such a bad compromise.
