Inert nuclear missile found in US man's garage
- hyperific 3y agoThere's very little in the article about the rocket. This site seems to have a fair amount of information on it. https://f-106deltadart.com/weapons_air2a_genie.htm https://f-106deltadart.com/weapons_air2a_genie.htm
- dabber 3y ago> Nuclear Air-to-Air Intercept Rocket > > The AIR-2A Genie is an air-to-air rocket with a nuclear warhead designed for use against formations of enemy bombers. Wow. I never considered such thing ever existed, but of course it did...
- hyperific 3y agoI can do you one better. Ever heard of the Davy Crockett? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davy_Crockett_(nuclear_device) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davy_Crockett_(nuclear_devic...

- dredmorbius 3y agoThe class of missile was nuclear capable. The specific inert rocket involved had no warhead, and apparently no fuel, being just a casing. This is equivalent to describing a seized shopping bag based on the notion of what potential contraband might have been contained within it. My complaint isn't with the Bellevue Police Department (a missile is not in fact a shopping bag, and deserves investigation), but with the BBC's headline editor who really shouldn't publish such clickbait.
