Oxide and Friends: Helios [audio]
- mroche 3y agoShow Notes ----------------- Bryan and Adam are joined by Oxide colleagues Josh Clulow, Patrick Mooney, and Steve Klabnik to discuss Helios, the operating system that runs on the Oxide Rack. Helios is a distro of illumos (derived from OpenSolaris, derived from Solaris, etc.). What's a distro? Why did Oxide choose illumos? Plenty of cross-generational appeal in this episode! Some of the topics we hit on, in the order that we hit them: - The Helios github repo - Hacker News thread its release - OmniOS - Rust Tier 2 support - Bryan's talk on holistic boot - Oxide and Friends: Holistic Boot - Oxide and Friends: Shipping Rack 1 - The Quality Death Spiral - Oxide's "St. Louis" branch of illumos - Bryan's sleeper bug from 1991 - illumos books (How's this for some SEO?!)
