Technology has always destroyed jobs and industries, all the way back to Ned Ludd. But it created new jobs and made us more efficient. Otherwise, 90% of us would be farmers.
It is unclear to me why any specific industry should receive special protection from technology. Should we ban bread factories to protect the jobs of local bakers? If one was to draw a line, what would be the criteria?
On a side note, we are hearing about this much more now, because the journalists and artists have a louder voice than the bakers.
