Are there standards for touch screen UI elements?
- bumby 3y agoFrom the article: "The agency [NHTSA] says that the brake, park and anti-lock brake warning lights have a smaller font size than required by federal safety standards."
- ThrowawayTestr 3y agoBut does that apply only to touchscreens or is that written before touchscreens?
- callalex 3y agoCan you explain why the input method is relevant?
- bumby 3y agoI don't know what requirements they are referencing, but the SAE standards are defined after well after touchscreens. (I believe touchscreens date back to the 1980s). But I think that is a somewhat unimportant point because the requirement intent is to make sure the warning is conspicuous. I'm not sure that touchscreens would be inherently different in that regard. Or are you thinking there's something unique to the touchscreens that makes them meet that intent in some other way?
