Why do these figures always come as non-farm?
- oa335 3y agoBecause farm payrolls are seasonal. This number is easier to compare month over month.
- noneeeed 3y agoI assume because farm work is quite seasonal. There are other seasonal jobs (like summer holiday resorts or pre-christmas shop work) but I don't think they are as significant.

On farmers: Why aren’t farmers included in monthly jobs data? The answer may go back to early America. Highly seasonal, farming has always had a special place in our history—and our hearts. On other exclusions: Obtaining accurate employment numbers is complicated by: Self-employment Unpaid family employment Part-time or hobby farmers Other partnerships And military is excluded because it's not a measure of the economy.
