Show HN: Personal Financial Copilot
Hey guys, need your feedback on my side-project.
I am building a personal financial advisor to help with personal finances including transactional analysis, spends categorisation, anomaly detection in spends and budgeting plans. It's build with the Assistants API from OpenAI along with a data pipeline for ingestion where we operate OCR, scripting and other methods to improve the data and maths calculations to reduce hallucination.
It works by just uploading any financial docs from bank statements, credit reports to even receipts and invoices. We don't store any user info including files, chat history or anything for now and data is deleted in a period of 7 days. Any criticism like privacy, security and functionality issues, I am ready to discuss even if it's the tech stack.
I have 3 years of experience in building in Fintech, worked for 2 YC backed companies and have built a similar product called Pocket (https://getpocket.money https://getpocket.money). Happy to answer any questions, I mean any questions. Given enough support I could also open-source the codebase.
Waiting to hear back from you guys. Love you all
- mdrzn 3y agoThird time I see this project posted on HN but I cannot understand what it does or why should I use it. I don't think downloading all my statements from my bank and uploading them here is the most "convenient" way to talk finances with AI. I would be more comfortable with a desktop app (maybe even offline first with Llama) so I know that I have my data always available with me.
- mrbishalsaha 3y agoHonestly, I am trying to gather more user feedback. I've seen traffic of 2.5k so far, but most visitors didn't sign up, start a conversation, or do anything; they just left. I can't learn anything if people don't even complain. I understand that uploading private information to an unknown site, even for a trial, is very difficult. So, instead of asking for bank statements, I am asking users to start with any PDF. The reason I'm asking for this is because without context, it's just another ChatGPT. I want to build a local LLM to operate on devices, but currently, most LLMs don't run well. I'm hoping this will change with WWDC when Apple announces new iOS updates and new AI features. I am desperate to get some actionable feedback that I can work on to improve, or I might just have to abandon this project. That's the reason I'm reaching out. Sorry for spamming.
