Microsoft seeks Rust developers to rewrite core C# code
- Aloha 3y agoI'd really love to hear Dave Cutler's take on Rust.

- pjmlp 3y agoAs I already mentioned in another channels, the way this ad was written and came up is yet again, a good example of how Microsoft happens to be organized [0], on one side we have .NET team bosting about the performance improvements they have been achieving release after release with runtime and C++ like language features exposed to C# (already possible in C++/CLI). On the other side we have the Quantum team rewriting their tooling from C# into Rust citing performance needs [1], and now this job ad. It is a bit ironic to have a team doing posts about performance, while people from another building are quoting performance as the reasoning for their rewrites into something else. Public perception matters in tooling adoption, even if inside everything is well and dandy. - cosmicradiance 3y agoC# cannot be an all-in-one language. Neither can be any other, including Rust. There are use cases for each language and a team that understands and adapts this mentality will outshine others. “You should not have any special fondness for a particular weapon, or anything else, for that matter. Too much is the same as not enough. Without imitating anyone else, you should have as much weaponry as suits you.” ― Miyamoto Musashi
