If we can formalize our ignorance, then it can become knowledge. Uncertainty is another name for ignorance, and quantum mechanical formalism of uncertainty has been enormously useful.
[Edit] Quantum mechanics makes enormous and pervasively verified predictions. This theory will be useful to the extent it makes such verified predictions.
