Players, or journalists? E.g. is there any evidence their sales suffered because the women were too undressed? And what is the point of getting works from a different culture, if they are then filtered through the same US-centric sensibilities as everything else? If I get a game from Japan, I expect a Japanese perspective, not that of a Californian localizer or sensitivity reader.
Consumers fled to Japan for a different perspective, only to see it choked and replaced with more of the same.
- PaulHoule 3y agoI hear a lot of complaints about it from some players, particularly my son. He didn't like this collage of Fate/Extella characters I made https://mastodon.social/@UP8/110817619887893867 https://mastodon.social/@UP8/110817619887893867 They recently came out with Fate/Samurai Remnant which is nowhere near as sexualized as previous games in that series and it's claimed that this is trying to reach a wider audience. My feeling was that Fate/Samurai Remnant elicited really strong moe for my servant using different narrative mechanisms such as the character being infectiously enthusiastic about the world that they are living in for such as short time. Similarly there were complaints about Pyra's outfit in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and you can't say a small change in the character design would destroy the integrity of the game because it wouldn't.
