>What stage of capitalism is it when people buy so much drugs to paralyze their digestive track because they have so much food available they are eating themselves to an early grave and then this disrupts supply chains for people who depend on that drug for treating debilitating chronic diseases?
Obesity is a debilitating chronic disorder.
But that's not what the article is about.
It is about potential applications in the treatment of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases.
"My debilitating chronic disease is more important than your debilitating chronic disorder." is not a defensible position especially since type 1 diabetes already has an effective treatment and people with type 2 can get in line with all of the obese people.
- namaria 3y agoYou're staging a strawman. These drugs are not in short supply for diabetics because of morbidly obese people using them. It's the influencers and socialites. The fact that you even created discourse to put on me and argue against is just... sad.
- snakeyjake 3y ago>It's the influencers and socialites. Influencers and socialites are eating themselves into an early grave? You said that, not me. You’re also the one ignoring the content of the article to espouse your own opinions. The article is about the anti inflammatory properties of the drugs potentially being useful in the treatment of other diseases and you’re rambling on about celebrities eating themselves to death.
- namaria 3y agoSight. Ok lemme break it down. These drugs are amazing. They also can make you skinny with little extra effort. This has lad to shortages for people who need them such as diabetics. Now that I've spelled out what I hoped smart people would be able to deduce, please enlighten me: why are you insisting on insulting me about a comment you neither understood nor want to discuss the content of? You've been just rude for this whole exchange for no apparent reason.
