The OpenAI subreddit is the epitome of this.
For months people posting that GPT4 is not performing well, its short in its responses and the change to 'one chat to rule them all' where it will generate images and search Bing was a marked downgrade. These are all met with 'unsubscribe', 'you suck at prompting', 'git gud' type comments.
Turns out it was actually under performing - according to OpenAI itself, they addressed it in their January update.
I posted about how having only one custom prompt was kind of pathetic after a year. Several OSS tools have the same UI and multiple prompts. https://github.com/mckaywrigley/chatbot-ui https://github.com/mckaywrigley/chatbot-ui as an example. Of course this was met with excuses and workarounds.
- wildpeaks 3y agoThe superstitions and anthropomorphizing from AI clerics are concerning, always on the lookout for the "one weird tricks" that is rumored to make prompts work better, like adding "please" and "thank you".
