If they live outside China, how do you even blackmail them with this? They’re openly LGBTQ and that is perfectly accepted in the west.

- Kye 3y agoIt really isn't. There are pockets of high levels of acceptance and varying levels of tolerance. Societies and governments can turn on marginalized groups frighteningly fast even with this level of acceptance and tolerance. There's a years-long campaign to outlaw public existence for trans people in the US that's spreading to other countries along attempts to outlaw teaching (even in library book form!) about the existence of queer people throughout the US. Germany, and especially Berlin, were a lot like the US on queer rights and acceptance pre-WW2. The era's equivalent of a queer center was in one of those famous Nazi book burning photos. But to answer your question: sometimes people outside China have friends and family in China. Sometimes they're not out to friends and family or at work the way they are online, and people have a way of leaking enough details to connect pseudonyms to legal names without meaning to. There are many ways to weaponize this knowledge.

- Kye 3y agoIf you're going to go so wildly odd-topic, at least say something novel. What you said is base propaganda. Not even an original spin on it.

- Kye 3y agoI'm familiar with the major propagandists.

- Kye 3y agoWhy do you dismiss as men women who are just trying to live their lives in peace? Because propagandists have lied to you about the real threat: dangerous men who don't need any pretense or disguise to hurt people. Not women, cis, trans, or otherwise.

- xg15 3y ago> from males who desire to be female The question is, why do they desire this? Is it just because they're creeps and this satisfies some kind of sexual fantasy/fetish for them - or because they genuinely see themselves as female - possibly due to some biological basis - and are distressed when the perception of themselves by others doesn't match their self perception? Conservatives seem to gravitate towards the former explanation while progressives - and the majority of scientists - argue tge latter.

- Kye 3y ago>> "The unifying principle is that all males, regardless of how they identify or why, should respect women's boundaries and not demand or be granted access to such spaces." Which is why we should respect the wish and right of women who happen to be trans to use the correct spaces. Glad we agree! Anyway. Back to the topic at hand of China-based fediverse snoops.
