Isn't 6 figures the new 'living wage' in many areas?
- replwoacause 3y agoYes
- 0xbadcafebee 3y agoOnly in the wealthiest cities and neighborhoods, which is a very small share of the total. There's almost 20,000 cities in the USA and only about six of them have an average living wage above $100K.
- jklinger410 3y agoAnd debt is at its highest ratio in modern history, along with all cost of living metrics. Most of those sub-$100k zips are dying.
- refurb 3y agoBelieve it or not but there is a whole world beyond San Francisco and NYC. And those cities are thriving.
- jklinger410 3y agoBelieve it or not i'm from one of these cities and they are most certainly not.
- refurb 3y agoYou're from ONE of those cities, but claiming all cities outside of SF and NYC are not thriving?
- s1artibartfast 3y agowhat is the actual median wage? living wage is an aspirational goal. it doesnt tell you much about if 100k is a huge step up or down from typical jobs.
- mcguire 3y agoMedian household income in the US is $75,000. (https://www.census.gov/library/publications/2023/demo/p60-279.html https://www.census.gov/library/publications/2023/demo/p60-27...)
