Ask HN: When it comes to micro app themes, which do you prefer?
Hey HN community, when it comes to micro app themes, what's your go-to preference? Are you all about that sleek sophistication with a Dark Theme, or do you prefer the fresh clarity of a Light Theme?
If you find both themes okay, how do you implement it? Is it provided by the internal tool builder or do you set it up with hand code?
- petee 3y agoI'd suggest this is entirely context dependent, though it doesn't hurt much to give the user both options except more work for you. Some apps that I use, I don't care if they are Light-only. There are others that I only use at night, but are blindingly bright and have no dark option. Conversely, dark themes can be very difficult to see in the daytime. You'll have to assess when & how your users use your app
- Aaikansh22 3y agoAssessing when users use the app is a good catch to decide on the theme, but I believe many apps now give the option to switch between dark and light mode with a single click.
