Maybe if Hitler had attacked Stalin first, the reasoning could have worked; but he went for the Molotov-Ribbentropp instead, which from outside made it look very much like he was on the same page as Joe. Regardless, Britain would not have supported a cohesive Europe-wide power even to fight the USSR, as proven by the postwar bickering with DeGaulle.
