OpenBSD – pinsyscalls(2) work summarized by Theo de Raadt
- ptidhomme 3y ago> The direct-syscalls-inside-the-binary model used by go (and only go, noone else in the history of the unix software does this) provided the biggest resistance against this effort. What does direct-syscalls-inside-the-binary mean ?
- erik_seaberg 3y agoBypassing libc and its header files, which are generally the up to date source of truth about things like enum values and struct layouts.
- ptidhomme 3y agoBut what's specific to Go ? It's a generalized practice there ?
- erik_seaberg 3y agoI think Go tried to do this everywhere (from the same impulse that drove them to write their own linker?) but systems other than Linux are not committing to support a stable ABI from userland into their kernels.
