I have. My state has a question on the tax form about out-of-state purchases. Most of what I buy in the US online already collects sales taxes, but for things I buy overseas I've estimated the tax and paid the estimated tax a time or two. It usually doesn't matter though, as there's an exemption up to a certain dollar amount, which I usually don't exceed.

- anonymouskimmer 3y agoI was wrong about my state, it's been a year so I was probably forgetting some particulars. For other states I don't know where you'd find this information, but an example is: https://www.salestaxinstitute.com/sales_tax_faqs/i-bought-a-taxable-item-and-the-seller-didnt-charge-sales-tax-do-i-have-to-pay-the-tax-anyway https://www.salestaxinstitute.com/sales_tax_faqs/i-bought-a-... : Some jurisdictions have a minimum dollar threshold for accrual of consumer’s use tax. For purposes of consumer’s use tax, Chicago, Illinois does not tax the first $2,500 of purchases annually. Other jurisdictions apply minimum amounts subject to tax based on the nature of the item sold, for example, the city of New York does not apply use tax to the first 400 cigarettes brought into the city or in the possession of an individual.
