Developers of major platform apps have a daunting job: adapting to the yearly or more frequent changes that come from the blue, and the various versions of hardware and software that exist simultaneously. I never went there, doing only in-house development tasks. Though I use Apple mainly, I pay for few apps, partly because app developers too frequently pull the rug from under you, either voluntarily or not. My real love is for free and open source.
