Why would websites block access from ec2?
- burgerbrain 15y agoNo idea. Last time I bothered trying Stack Overflow did though. (That was a while ago, when it was still called that.)
- simonbrown 15y agoIt's still called stackoverflow (?).
- burgerbrain 15y agoOh. I thought they switched to stackexchange or something stupid like that. Whichever, I don't use the site much.
- ef4 14y agoYeah, the whole Stack Overflow family of websites blocks EC2. Other examples include Yelp and Bank of America.
- codexon 15y agoBecause you can spin up a new ip for a couple of cents to avoid bans.
- jacquesm 15y ago- 0 sales - lots of headaches - badly behaved bots - griefers - ban avoiders - wanna-be hackers aka script kiddies Why would one not want to block access to a website from ec2?
