One idea for VR is to hold these static and let you walk around normally but anytime you stop walking they move you back to the center.

- huhtenberg 3y agoYou'd feel that.
- dymk 3y agoMaybe not if you do it slowly. One hack that room-scale VR systems do to make you feel like you're in a larger space is subtly curve the direction you're walking, so you end up walking in a large arc but you "see" you're walking in a straight line. It's subtle enough for most people to not notice.
- pi-e-sigma 3y agoCan you link to a pic of such a room? The idea seems interesting
- jtvjan 3y agoI'm not sure about a room with this, but I remember seeing a demo of this concept some years ago: https://youtu.be/1orUctibUow https://youtu.be/1orUctibUow The keyword is "redirected motion/walking".
- mcapodici 3y agoThat makes me think - if you can do that you can also make it emulate hyperbolic space or spherical space which would be interesting.
