The people dismissing this may well have the technical knowledge to avoid problems, but that’s not how most people work. Most people are influenced by advertising, their friends, social networks etc. It’s pretty easy to persuade someone to install something malicious. Just look at how many scams are being pushed on X/Twitter. They obviously work otherwise nobody would bother with them.
