40 million for NFL is an exception, not the norm. It was mostly because of the playoffs. Viewership in traditional TV is much lower than sports events. There are only a few non sport programming that come in top 100 when it comes to traditional TV and those are programming the Voice, 60 mins etc. But the numbers for those are around 6-7 million. Even the peak GOT was at 16-20 million, which was all time high for HBO.
