Microsoft to lay off 1,900 Activision Blizzard, Xbox staff
- simmerup 3y agoBlizzard needs a clean out to be fair
- lwhi 3y agoAfter using LLM in my own dev workflow, it feels that one developer can quite simply do more. Would it be realistic to expect a percentage based cull across the board? Is that what we're seeing?
- SeanAnderson 3y agoNo? They are cleaning up after their merger.
- Blackstrat 3y agoThis routine acquisition BS and has nothing to do with LLMs or the economy. Bloodbaths after acquisitions are the norm.
- lwhi 3y agoMakes me feel better .. slightly better ; )
- joe-collins 3y agoGrapevine says that beyond simple redundancies, ABK's customer service is being gutted in favor of outsourcing.
- ycdxvjp 3y agoMaybe I am watching too many series on drug lords but Game studios feel like money laundering operations. How do you even give a group 100-200 mil and say ok go make something for 3 years or whatever with no guarantee it will work?
- DamnYuppie 3y agoHow is that different than most startups?
- SeanAnderson 3y agoIf you're actually interested in learning more, I highly recommend the book Blood, Sweat, and Pixels :) https://www.amazon.com/Blood-Sweat-Pixels-Triumphant-Turbulent/dp/0062651234 https://www.amazon.com/Blood-Sweat-Pixels-Triumphant-Turbule...
- ycdxvjp 3y agoThanks will check it out. But these books are usually overloaded with the creative and tech side of the struggle and gloss over where the cash comes from and how it's kept flowing to keep the lights on.
