The interesting part to me was that the author spent 20+ years traveling around, and started to reduce the distances only "in recent years". How long will they keep enjoying these distance limited, more local discoveries ? Will they progressively expand back and buy a boat when their kids leave home ? I don't know if people who fundamentaly enjoyed change will be able to fit in a box for the rest of their life.
