What should I do to earn more
I am a software engineer at a academic institution. Not in the state and the pay is fair (I was a QA and turned to SWE just now). Due to personal reason I want to earn some side income to pay my bill. I used utest, UserTesting, some freelance work for side income so far. Any ideas I could work on to earn more? Right now I am thinking about making mini mobile games (which I am interested as a hobby at the meantime). For money perspective, which would be the best options? thank you very much!

Going this route will mean each hour you put in will become more valuable, rather than having to put in more and more hours. Time is limited, don’t work 2 jobs when you can focus on 1 they can earn you the same salary. Trying to turn your hobby into a job will most likely kill the hobby, as it will feel like work, and making a mobile game is like buying a lottery ticket. Make a game because you want to make a game, not because you think it will pay your rent. If you get lucky and it can become more than a hobby, cool, but don’t bank on it. I should also say, if your current job is paying the bills, letting you save, and giving you some waking around money… all while being low stress and leaving you the bandwidth for hobbies… there is a lot of value in that. Generally higher pay comes with increased skill, responsibility, or stress. If you’re lucky it’s just skill, but it can often be all three. It can sometimes be more trouble than it’s worth, but at the same time hard to walk away from once the golden handcuffs are on your wrists.
