HP CEO Says They Brick Printers That Use Third-Party Ink Because of Hackers
- 4d4m 3y agoThe Streisand effect on this will be slow but sure. Epson, Cannon and Brother, your chance to capitalize and expand bulk ink/solid ink printing (consumers love understanding lower print costs upfront) expands with every article read about this. The tide has shifted from almost free cost-subsidized inkjet and laser hardware to consumers wanting a 10 year printer they don't mind investing in upfront.
- anigbrowl 3y agoOff topic, but why does Wired always say 'you've read your last complimentary article this month' when I haven't read a Wired article in several years? They're straight-up lying, although I suspect this is due to massively incompetent cookie design rather than pure malice. Then again they are owned by Conde Nast, one of the shittier publishing companies.
- scrps 3y agoHP in the role of the guy who just stumbled upon the dumpster fire of security and now sees conspiracy everywhere to justify vendor lock-in... The chips are in the ink maaaaaaan! I'd like off the ride now.
