What a bummer - the use of an off-the-shelf arm was such a clever and promising idea.
Do you think they would have made it if they raised more runway, or is this an issue of focusing on too little of a tire-shops jobs to be done? (prepping the robot taking too long for the one job it has to do)
- fuzzfactor 3y agoSomebody has to serve a robot full-time (or preferably more than one identical robot without much additional effort) and it would be someone else usually who would be expected on site occasionally for scheduled maintenance visits and on-call for priority service. The robot(s) under nominal operation will need to accomplish a certain multiple of the remaining human effort involved in the end or it does not become as financially feasible as it could be. You can't really say the only thing that matters is who the robot replaces. The irreplaceable people that make it possible by serving the robots are very important to the equation.
