  Then we're back to bundling. Exactly what is keeping us from having a system where viewers just directly pay content creators? (And the likes of Game of Thrones is distributed therein?)

    Distributed risk. Publisher's lose money on lots of content under the context of earning it on others. If somehow you could mega selectively pick it would be very expensive.

    There's a lot of movies available to "rent" or buy for a couple dollars, but more people pay for bundles than a la cart.
