Oh what an immense loss, my sincerest condolences. Nick’s textbooks are a goldmine, it was my go to reference for many years, very deep and motivating, paving the road to much deeper and very thoughtful comprehension of numerical methods. Very substantial contributions to the mathematical community. I’m so terribly sad… hope his students can advance Nick’s work to the benefit of the future generations of mathematicians and engineers, and the whole world of science.
