Bloomberg: Apple targets 2028 release date for its own electric vehicle
- herodoturtle 3y ago> Bloomberg says the 2028 car will offer limited autonomy features in line with what is offered by other electric vehicle manufacturers like Tesla. The Apple car will require drivers pay attention and be ready to take over, as the car drives itself on roads and highways, similar to the current Tesla Autopilot system. This will represent a Level 2+ system; originally Project Titan was aiming for Level 4. I much prefer this cautious approach, especially given the relatively long timeline they have to pull it off. Curious to see what their design team comes up with!

- BandButcher 3y agoHaha no doubt, tech is all about vendor lockin and ecosystem lol if anything car play was just a temporary loan (or even beta testing)
- meepmorp 3y agoI'm not convinced Apple is really working on a car. Maybe some related technology, maybe just doing R&D that might be applicable to cars, but not product. It doesn't help that Bloomberg (imo) favors stories that move markets rather than more realistic/correct ones.
