Takes 7 steps to install Firefox this way as opposed to apt-get install.
- whalesalad 3y agobut you are on an older version of ffx
- Timber-6539 3y ago*temporarily delayed version. This is a complicated nuance depending on the release cadence of your distro.
- hnarn 3y agoThis comment doesn’t make any sense. Installing a deb file is done with apt, what are you actually referring to when you say “apt-get install”?
- dsr_ 3y agoapt, apt-get, aptitude and synaptic are all front ends to the same package management system.
- hnarn 3y agoI’m well aware of that. How is that in any way relevant to the question I was asking?
- Timber-6539 3y agoapt-get install will automatically download and install the deb for you.
- hnarn 3y agoAre you insinuating that this would not happen with the instructions from Firefox?
- Timber-6539 3y agoNot unless you create an automated script for the instructions. Am strictly picking on the guide.
- Gabrys1 3y ago1. Add the apt repo 2. Add the repo's public key 3. apt-get update 4. apt-get install firefox What 3 steps am I missing?
- hnarn 3y agoCounting “steps” is inane to begin with. Those could all be done with a one-liner, does that make it one step?
- Timber-6539 3y agoYou could do this with a one-liner I suppose, but the Firefox guide still gives you 7 steps to accomplish something apt will do with a single command.
- hnarn 3y agoYou are either trolling or you have a very fundamental lack of understanding for what those seven steps actually do and how package management works.
- Timber-6539 3y agoAm simply saying the alternative to doing this is a "one-click" apt-get install. Not sure why you have your panties in a twist.
