A vehicle with low energy efficiency per unit weight, like an SUV, costs about the same regardless of fuel.
To find a higher TCO for EVs, you have to go to long-range (>400mi) vehicles and include battery technology from 25 years ago.

The combination of demanding extreme range and extreme weight costs more in fuel or electricity. Perhaps instead of going back to 1970's-sized inefficient vehicles, vehicles should be taxed by weight. Also, the SUV/light truck loophole has to go and they should be regulated, taxed, and tariffed similarly to passenger vehicles.
