Too many of us in the USA act like entitled brats. Easy for me to say as a car owner with my basic needs well-enough taken care of. Given my child has medical needs that make it even more important than the regular amount of importance having access to "freedom of the road" in a rural area, as much as I want to go without a car, a few things have to change first, like moving back to a city.
Perhaps most people have similar medical needs? We don't seem very healthy inn this country, on average. I wonder to what degree that's because we rely on such easy low-effort, high future-cost transportation?
Let's not be like the Wall-E humans.
Little by little, and gradually more,
People will walk to get to the store.
Little by little we'll steward the woods
To garden and forage and harvest our goods.
