Why would anyone trust an ai bot about a candidates views. Using your location and potentially other login information it’ll know your political leanings and say anything to get your vote, true or not.
Individually targeted political advertising where content is tailored should be banned. With individualized ads there is no chance for a broader discussion on the ads veracity, the ads can exploit individual fears and concerns, and they can give opposing messages to different groups on niche issues that do not enter the public debate.
- fulladder 3y agoIndivualized advertising is already a thing in political campaigns. That's what Facebook and all these other companies have been selling for almost 20 years now. I'm not sure whether throwing an AI chatbot into the mix really makes much difference, as the indivualized marketing itself doesn't seem to make much difference. It's just more noise in the political system.
- ListeningPie 3y ago> as the individualized marketing itself doesn't seem to make much difference Are you saying individualized marketing is no more effective than generic mass advertising, in the same answer where you write it's been a money maker for Facebook and "all these other companies" > That's what Facebook and all these other companies have been selling for almost 20 years now. I know, and I'm saying in politics it should be banned. Some countries have strict rules for the types of advertising politicians can use, America is not one of these countries.

- ranguna 3y agoSometimes it's not the truth.
- 15457345234 3y ago'the truth they want to hear' != 'the truth' think of it like a local variable, it only needs to persist long enough for the function to complete and for the correct return value to be set
- ranguna 3y agoI'm not sure I believe in "local truth" that is not a subset of absolute truth. There are things that a subset of people believe, but I don't think we can name that concept with "truth", it would be confusing.
- ListeningPie 3y agoI wrote that in my original message. >With individualized ads there is no chance for a broader discussion on the ads veracity, the ads can exploit individual fears and concerns, and they can give opposing messages to different groups on niche issues that do not enter the public debate. veracity noun ve· rac· i· ty və-ˈra-sə-tē pluralveracities Synonyms of veracity 1 : conformity with truth or fact : ACCURACY
