    My friends who watch/ed anime all have kids whereas the two or three who never really got into it are willfully abstaining from parenthood. My anecdotal experience trumps your bland joke.

  Mainly because males don't bear the economic and emotional consequences if they neglect or fail to use the birth control that's available. It's almost a given that casual sex leading to a pregnancy means that the male will be last seen heading for the hills at very high speed. Whereas the female will be left literally holding the baby.
