Ask HN: Why Microsoft website pictures look blurry, jagged, low-res?
I've noticed this in the past few months. Have a look at this for instance:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/b/copilotpro
or the homepage!

- mattl 3y agoWhat browser are you using? What hardware? What OS?
- behnamoh 3y agoChrome and Safari on macOS.
- mattl 3y agoYeah, looking on Safari myself I can see the images are pretty blurry. https://cdn-dynmedia-1.microsoft.com/is/image/microsoftcorp/Highlight-Slim-Multi-Canvas-Copilot-001:VP4-1399x600 https://cdn-dynmedia-1.microsoft.com/is/image/microsoftcorp/... I guess their CDN is doing some heavy crunching of the images to keep page speeds fast.
- solardev 3y agoIt's probably their overzealous image optimization CDN. You can try lying to it about your viewport size and resolution and all that.
- BandButcher 3y agoHaha yea on edge and ff mobile it doesn't look crisp, but not sure if its actually the base image itself. The copilot image looks super jagged, like a bad photoshop. not sure how much effort ms is putting into images, maybe they are ai generated now??
