If your console runs SteamOS, you have to compete with Valve and Steam Deck, on a platform maintained by Valve developers.
If your console runs Windows, you can differentiate yourself from Steam Deck by supporting a larger library of games, on a relatively neutral platform. "like 5 games" is an underestimate, and they're major ones. Just on https://store.steampowered.com/charts/mostplayed https://store.steampowered.com/charts/mostplayed I see:
- PUBG
- Apex Legends
- Call of Duty
- GTA5
- The Finals
- War Thunder
- Destiny 2
Not to mention off-Steam games like LoL, Valorant, Fortnite, etc.
Yes, people play competitive games on Steam Deck. You can plug a mouse, keyboard and display into them. In fact, they're really popular at the big LAN party conventions- your rig can fit into a backpack.
