Change my mind - this is my best understanding for why public tech companies do, and ought to do significant equity comp, other than the fact that it's a norm now.
I'd love to see any alternate posts / expositions on this. Google seems to only provide me with unhelpful FAQs by lawyers etc.
- vba616 3y agoThe summary seems fine as far as it goes. But I don't see any comment on the source of the moolah. From the point of view of someone who has never in their career gotten equity, options, RSUs, or whatever, all that free money is being expropriated from their IRA or 401k and therefore retirement. It's odd when you think about it - in Soviet America, poor capitalists get robbed by rich workers. What a country!
