Random Number Generation by Chaotic Double Scroll Oscillator on Chip [pdf]
- jruohonen 3y agoFrom 1999, i.e. well before Cloudflare: "Here the chaotic seed is generated by a number of lava lamps, which are photographed by a digital camera. The photograph is then fed through a hash function in order to reduce the correlation between consecutive pictures. This is a necessary step, as most pixels of the pictures of the lava lamps will be the same from picture to picture. The output from the hash function is then fed as a seed to a classical pseudo-random number generator". Now, the interesting question is whether it works and is worth the effort.
