- beej71 3y agoPolling also shows people not liking how old he is.
- mulderc 3y agoHe is basically the same age as his likely opponent and unlike him can string together a coherent sentence so I’m not sure that will be a big deal in the end.
- jeffbee 3y agoYeah I think polling reflects that Republicans constantly talk about this and the media just can't help saying "many are saying". Just today on PBS Newshour they let Chris Sununu talk, unchallenged and uninterrupted, for over a minute about how Democrats just stop him in the street to talk about how old Biden is, which is an obviously made-up story that doesn't pass the smell test.
- mcphage 3y agoYeah, who out there is saying “we can’t vote for an 82 year old! But a 78 year old, that’s fine!”
- beej71 3y agoThere's a little difference between 28 and 32. There's a lot of difference between 78 and 82.
- mulderc 3y agoNot in my experience. At that point it is really just how well someone lived and not much about the specific age. I find Biden to be much more coherent than trump and he also appears to be significantly more physically active. Hell he bikes more than I do.
- rayiner 3y agoImmigration is also a major issue. Not as much as the economy overall, but similar to inflation specifically: https://news.gallup.com/poll/1675/most-important-problem.aspx https://news.gallup.com/poll/1675/most-important-problem.asp.... And Biden fares poorly in polls of trust on that issue: https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2023/12/14/assessments-of-joe-biden https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2023/12/14/assessments-.... He also does poorly on foreign policy, though that’s not an important issue overall.
- mulderc 3y agoCurious who these people are that stay awake at night worrying about immigration. I think about it all the time but lament that immigration isn’t higher. The US needs to reform immigration policy and let more people in IMHO.
- Izkata 3y agoThere are more people entering the country illegally (and that's even just the ones we know about) than there are native births, and you want more?
- mcphage 3y agoYes. Because the native births number is going down, and that isn’t good for our country at all.
- hindsightbias 3y agoAll of them. Who is going to flip your burgers?
- rayiner 3y agoThat’s a common sentiment, but I think it undermines American egalitarianism, and, ultimately, our notion of self-governance. When your class of “burger flippers” is also foreign, that can’t help but accentuate class differences. Burgers should cost what’s needed to pay an American with deep roots in the country to flip the burgers. I think it would be morally beneficial for people if the employees flipping burgers or serving them at restaurants were their neighbors’ kids.
