This comes across as quite tone deaf to me, weakly insinuating neglectfulness because the father does not just kill his son. (I'm not judging your view and want to be clear that english is not my first language, but I think one has to be very careful with words in situations like this, especially considering that the author visits this forum)

It is absolutely not. My son has the same name as his. All I could think about after the article about his son yesterday (the day before?) was how hard the situation would be on my daughter.
