I wouldn't go that far. Fossil fuels helped for sure, but we still had wood as a renewable resource that would have served until we discovered nuclear power.

- Eisenstein 3y agoI am pretty sure it would not be possible to launch an industrial revolution with just wood. It isn't dense enough energy wise and there isn't nearly enough of it.
