Ask HN: What does it mean when a post gets flagged?
I noticed my last post got flagged. Is there a way to get more info?
- samstave 3y ago[flagged]
- Bostonian 3y agoI think it means that N people with sufficient karma (I think N=4) thought your post violated the guidelines of the site.
- sp332 3y agoFrom the site guidelines https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html Please don't use HN primarily for promotion. It's ok to post your own stuff part of the time, but the primary use of the site should be for curiosity. You're just submitting all of your own blog posts here to drive traffic. Looks spammy.
- adaboese 3y agoThat makes sense
- LinuxBender 3y agoIt may be worth adding that many people here will put the top level link to their blog in their profile should anyone be interested in following it. That avoids the spammy submissions but allows people to follow someones writing.
- rolph 3y agoblogs often fail here, original technical content is premium. its a 'how to SEO' thing and im bet the biasing is different here, but i know a lot of people who take a very dim view of SEO tactics, its considered gaming a service.
