I have AirPod Pros. Two generations of them. In my experience, they are useless. Not only don't they amplify external sound, they provide no compression and insufficient treble boost. Meanwhile, my $400/pair aids work pretty well. Apple has all the hardware and software to solve this. But they don't, for some reason.
