I was willing to die on this hill for a while, but as others have said, that time has unfortunately passed by. The same with top vs bottom replies. Another reason to let go of plain text is that it seems like sometimes short plain text emails are more likely to end up in spam filters. I don't have great proof of this, but definitely have seen it happen.
