Otherwise known as "Pass it on" or "Pay it forward". I hit Turin in Italy coming from France, all my money was in big denominations. I needed a smallish coin to complete payment for my train ticket, and the railway station was out of change. The guy at the ticket counter said 'That small amount isn't going to break me.' and took the extra money necessary for my ticket out of his own pocket. That was back in 1988. I have 'passed it on' many times in memory of him.
